Nicoletti is an itinerant art gallery. To capture the movement of the project, its website centers around the total distance, measured in kilometres, that every artwork had to travel to reach its exhibition. We also created a custom font that removes the dot over every ‘i’, and in exchange we offered a single traveling dot, resembling a pin on a map, as a means to locate the visitor within the site.
Jasmine Deporta is an Italian photographer. The number 11 has followed her throughout her life, from her 11/11 birthday to her first book culminating years of her work, titled 11. As a simultaneous collection and exploration of her identity, we wanted both her book and its web alter ego to equally encapsulate her numerical fixation.
Both mediums therefore follow the same double-page structure which mimics the parallel lines, similar to the book cover’s negative space. Playing on the balance of two 1s within the design also creates a dialogue between two photos, drawing out new meaning between the lines.
Maxime Sanchez is a French artist. His website is divided into two modes, Selected Work and Archive, but they function simultaneously, as the images from one mode create the design for the other. The empty spaces, filled with the bright colours of Maxime’s work, seem random, but they reserve space for images in the opposite mode. The layout is entirely determined by the image sizes, so the artist ultimately determines the design by how he uploads them. This radical, deconstructed, void-littered, no-margin grid would traditionally be taboo, but here it serves as a reflection of his work.
