Satu Maaranen is a fashion designer based in Helsinki. Her website offers four different layouts, each containing variations in size, colour, and position, which gives her the freedom to easily create numerous combinations of images. We also incorporated her work directly into the website, using her patterns in the background. In addition to business cards, we created a poster showcasing her S/S 2016 collection. Using a playful, asymmetric fold, the poster takes the shape of an envelope. When opened, the designer’s collection is revealed, and the reverse side offers a third function as an art piece.
Boys and Their Toys is an exhibition held in Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien (Berlin) exploring the omnipresence of the military in our everyday life. The poster is recreating an instruction booklet used to assemble toys.
Timesheets is a digital magazine featuring successful creatives, with each issue centered around a different city. The Berlin issue plays with the city’s distinctive preference for the simultaneously kitschy and cute. Overwhelming typefaces and animated widgets, as well as an ironic drop shadow, carve out a Berlin-branded space for online slow-journalism. In reproducing the effect of print, the digital magazine remains flat like a page, but the intuitive scroll-to-read, playful pop-ups, and mixture of typefaces defy the traditionally uniform two-page spread.
